1997 was quite an exciting year for Waldowood. First, Shamu made a rare personal appearance outside of Sea World, dropping in on Waldo & friends for a holiday visit. Then Waldowood bid farewell to Apartment 1A, its home since its establishment in 1988. In the vintage picture below, Shamu can be seen from his high perch overlooking Waldowood. Waldowood 1997 was a classic two-part Waldowood: Upper Waldowood, a residential area with a circle train, and Lower Waldowood, with a double-ring track system encircling the downtown area.
